Hi,
I'm having some problems installing GW on my mac. I downloaded the client no problem but then when i try to install the application i get the following message: "ERROR! cannot write to Info.plist, there are permission problems, or you are on a read-only volume. This cannot run from within a read-only dmg file."
I have just switched from PC to Mac and i am a new user so i am unsure if this is a problem with my Mac setting sor what, but if anyone knows how to fix this i would appreciate and help.

Make sure to drag the application to the applications folder before running.

The primary difference between 1.4 and 1.5 would have to be the wine version, so ultimately it really depends on what works better for your system.

If that does not work, repair your permissions (google!)

New Versions are out.
Updated everything to the latest versions. Also created two different version for this release, one is Crossover Games oriented, which some people have requested. The other is an updated version of the wine I have been using. Use whatever works better for you.

Anyone else having problems with this?
I've tried every version, even done the -image command to download all of the content before playing, and every time I run the game, the login screen and character selection screen work fine, but the second I get into the game, it lags like crazy and then crashes my whole machine..which is more than capable of running this (play Gw2 on med settings).
I have GW working fine on my windows partition, but having it on my mac would make it a lot easier, any help is appreciated. (I've tried using a combination of graphic settings, even running everything low and turned off and it still crashes, meaning I have to turn my mac off using the power key...)

The only version so far that has been usable for me is the newest wine, and even then i still have some trouble. for some reason, whenever i try to create a new character in factions or nightfall, specifically when i try to change any feature on the hair/face part or try to move past it, my screen starts blinking and my computer freezes if i don't close the program in time. I've been able to successfully create 2 characters in prophecies, however, and have minimally accessed the factions campaign successfully on an existing one. Ideas?

I have been playing the Mac version of Guild Wars 2 and yesterday stumbled on this forum, I have downloaded the wrappers and ready to go, I have four questions.
Will the Game Of The Year edition work with the wrappers ?
Do I need to purchase a specific box/version so it will work ?
Does anybody know if this Guild Wars will run under Parallels ?
Do I need to install the game itself into the wrapper, or just use the license key.
Thanks, looking forward to playing.

It runs just fine under parallels. I am using a 2012 Macbook Air with specs of 1.8 ghz core i5, 4 GB ram, 256 GB SSD and Intel HD 4000. It runs GW2 in the 40's on Med Settings. Parallels is set to use only 2.5 GB of RAM and 256 MB of the vRAM and runs GW1 maxed out at 60+ FPS.
Just make sure you go to Devices > External Devices (at the top) and select your Mouse. Otherwise the camera will FREAK out if you right click. Keep in mind this disconnects your mouse (software-wise) from OS X. You won't be able to use it in OS X until you shut down your Parallels Machine. Unless you've got a Macbook like I do, otherwise the trackpad obviously will work through both OS's and allow you to switch apps or go to the desktop using four finger swipe motions.

Hey, I don't know if this question has been asked yet and answered, but can you run TexMod and uMod through wine or the other client? Any help would be appreciated

Hey, if anyone still views this thread and wants to help me, my DAT file got corrupted while using winebox, should I just get a new DAT file from the anet servers or just dual boot windows 7 and bypass all this, or just redownload winebox again? any help would be appreciated <3

Dual booting to windows will always be a better option over using wine. You will have better performance, more stability, and you will be able to tinker around with it more. This is mainly just for people who get on to chat every once in a while :P

Hey, so I downloaded the wine skin and it seemed to be working great, except after a little while of solid gaming, the screen went black and the game crashed. After this happened a few times, I downloaded the crossover games version. It seemed to run a bit smoother on my computer (sometimes the wine version lags for a split second, but nothing major), but after a while it also crashed. The crossover version seems to last longer before crashing, but like I said, both versions end up crashing after some time. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I made that video a while ago showcasing me getting texmod working, if anything seems unclear, just ask.
